Collector’s notes
For the 50th anniversary in 2015 Corgi reissued its Thunderbird 2 and FAB 1 from existing toolings and tooled Thunderbirds 1 and 3 for the first time; Corgi said they were “not engineered to a specific scale, but rather produced to a design scale”. Corgi has been owned by Hornby since 2008.
For the 60th anniversary Corgi launched the F.A.B. Collection: a matte apple-green Thunderbird 2 and 4, a red-orange Thunderbird 3 paired with Thunderbird 1, a pink FAB 1 and — for the first time — solo Thunderbird 4 and Thunderbird 5 models. Corgi lists the scale of these models as “Fit the Box” rather than a ratio.
